Medical Director
Oversees development of products and technologies with biomedical applications. He is a General Surgeon with national recognition by Top Doctors in America, Best Surgeons in America, and Honolulu Magazine’s Best Doctors of Hawaii. Dr. Mugiishi also serves as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Hawaii, Director of Surgical Education for the University of Hawaii Surgical Residency program, and Medical Director for the Hawaii Medical Services Association, the largest health insurer in the State of Hawaii.
Outside of his medically-related work, Dr. Mugiishi is best known as the Varsity Basketball Coach for the Boys’ Basketball Team at Iolani, where he won a record setting 7 State Championships, including an unprecedented 5 consecutive, and 10 Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) championships. Dr. Mugiishi is Vice-Chair of the I’olani School Board of Governors. He received his MD at Northwestern University.
